Derek Morris- Morris Energy, LLC. Consultant and Independent Contractor-Morris  Energy began with the acquisition of an existing oil producing lease in 1995.  In 2000 the company entered into the well servicing industry after securing a multi-year contract with the Kansas Corporation Commission to plug abandoned oil and gas wells that were deemed environmentally hazardous.  In 2002 the company was awarded four contracts by the Environmental Protection Agency to plug abandoned oil wells in Northeast Oklahoma.  Fifty six wells were plugged for this project which included 19 requiring extraction of foreign material and 13 requiring “over- shot” drilling to a depth of 400’ to remove the well casing prior to plugging. Since 1995 Derek Morris has drilled over 250 oil and gas in addition plugging over 200 wells as a government and private contractor.  Additional experience includes advising U.S. and Canadian firms on drilling, well completion, and installation of production facilities. Morris Energy specializes in the revitalization of old leases.  Experience has proven that Easter Kansas shallow wells (less than 1000’) remain profitable during times of soft oil markets due to the lower operating expenses associated with shallow wells.
